Join us for a fun time where our panelists present objects, fashion, media, you name it and tell us why they think it is part of queer culture and why they love it. And you the audience get to join in and help us decide what is Queertessentially Queer Culture!

Need to take a break? The Quiet Room is available for anyone who needs to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the convention. With coloring pages and writing prompts from the Writer’s League of Texas take some time for you during the convention.
If you are in the Quiet Room please remember that this is a place for folks to be able to recharge, not a place to meet up and chat. Please keep any conversation to no more than a whisper and minimize it.

Most modern, Western descriptors of queerness began in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, with the sciences of psychology and sexual behavior finally being studied. But queerness has been around longer than when Hirschfeld and Kinsey put names to things. Was Elagabalus trans? What is a Boston marriage? Who worked at and frequented Molly Houses? These are just some of the topics we may touch on. Oh, and how modern media has gotten a lot of queer history wrong. I’m looking at you Braveheart.
